Mazembe bridge in Porto Alegre

June 25, 2014

Did you know that TP Mazembe has now a bridge named Mazembe in Brazil? Of course, this is not its official name, but for purely football reasons purely, it is called “Viaduto Mazembe” by part of the population of Rio Grande do Sul...

As you can see from our photo, the front part of the deck of the bridge, facing the newly built Sport Club Internacional stadium, in the form of a M. Gremio fans, sworn enemies of SC Internacional, have therefore not hesitated a second to call "Mazembe Bridge" (Viaduto Mazembe in Portuguese). An opportunity to once again taunt their neighbors "Colorados" by evoking their winner (Mazembe) during the World Clubs Cup of 2010.

The name has been an impressive success because to celebrate the "inauguration" on June 12, fans of Gremio launched 34,000 invitations on their Facebook page receiving no less than 14,000 confirmations of attendance!
